We are pleased to offer Radial Shockwave Therapy at Coastal Active Health
We are utilizing a Zimmer Radial Shockwave device which generates an energy wave using electromagnetic propulsion of a metal projectile inside a applicator hand-piece. When the metal projectile impacts the applicator head, a mechanical pressure wave is created which then passes through the injured tissue. This energy wave triggers a biological reaction within the cells which helps to accelerate healing and increase blood flow to the injured area.
Some of the more common conditions that can be treated with Radial Shockwave Therapy include:
Shoulder tendinitis Plantar Fasciitis Tennis Elbow Golfer's Elbow
Bursitis Shin Splints Heel Spurs Chronic Inflammation
Radial Shockwave therapy has been researched and reviewed for clinical efficacy.

Treatment times typically take 10-15 minutes in which up to 6000 pulses are administered to the affected body part. You might feel slight discomfort during application of the therapy but almost immediately afterwards patients report improved mobility and a reduction in their pain levels.
Most conditions respond positively when multiple treatment sessions are delivered over several days. This allows your body sufficient time to heal in between therapy sessions.
It is important that you do not apply ice or take anti-inflammatory medications immediately following Shockwave treatment as it will reduce your body's natural healing response.
As with all therapy types, results in each individual will vary based on chronicity, age, diet and lifestyle factors.
When used appropriately, Radial Shockwave therapy is a safe, non-invasive form of treatment. However, there are certain conditions in which it should not be used. These include coagulation disorders, regions being treated for cancer, pregnancy and growth regions in children.
